Year 5 Comic Relief Tea Room

We would like to say a GREAT BIG THANK YOU  to everyone who came to our Tea room, helping us  raise approximatly £150 for Comic Relief. We had some fantasic comments here are just a few:

Water Around our school, here is some of our work

Do you know anything about water around school? If you don't I'm going to tell you. Did you know our water can be no hotter than 55 degrees?  And a lot of our water is used in the kitchen! These are just a few facts, I'm going to tell you more...

Our care taker Mrs Percival is in charge of our water system she has to check it is working properly. A couple of years ago there was a flood in the Jabodao room! But Mrs Percival was on the job (even though it was out of school hours,) she had to call the fire men to fix it. I don't think you have ever heard this saying around school; the water system is like the life blood of our school. 

In our toilets we have a boiler each the girls have electric and the boys have a gas boiler. The water travel around the boiler. Have you heard of a pilot light? Do you know what it is? Its on a gas boiler it shows when gas is coming in. You can't switch the boiler if the pilot light is showing. 

Breaking news, our pipes are are from the Victorian times so they are older than 150 years old; Our old head teacher Mrs Tite  painted the pipes red, but when Mrs Jennings came she painted them blue. 

There was an author who said clean for the rich dirty for the poor. Please save our school water because it keeps use healthy.

Hello, today i'm going to tell you about water around our school. We get our water from the River Ouse and then it goes through a series of cleaning filters. Some of our pipes are around 150 years old. Now read on and find out more...

In our school we have 7 boilers. 2 in the infants and 1 in the juniors. We have 5 small electric boilers. The little boilers are dotted around the school mostly under sinks. The big boilers are gas. At night Mrs Percival put the boiler called freeze setting so if its frosty at night the boiler does't freeze.

In our school when nobody's here the water is stored and when someone turns on the tap in the morning the water runs again. Some of our water comes from Brayton Barff  as well as the River Ouse. At the Brayton High School they don't have sinks in the class rooms. We have 40 sinks in our school! Now i'm  going to tell you about the flood in the Jabodao room. A couple of years ago there was a flood in the Jabodao room  so Mrs Percival had to call in the plumber and the fire men on Christmas day. I don't think they was too pleased.

We can save water in our school by turning off taps. Don't take 30 mins washing your hands to get our of lessons (you will get caught). Thank you listening to this report.

Year 5 at Brayton High School

 

Our Unusual Week

Like any other day,  Monday and Tuesday were as normal as any other day.  Except it started to get a little bit chilly.  In fact, it got so cold, that on Wednesday ,Year 5 had to go to Brayton High School!
We had to have all of our lessons at Brayton High, and have playtime in the tennis court!  Everyone was excited for the big day tomorrow...
We were going to The Deep!  We had so much fun there.  My Favorite fish were the Jelly Fish, and my favorite part was near the end, because we went in a lift that takes you through a shark tank, with lots of other multi-coloured fish.  I thought it was awesome!
On Friday we had to go back to Brayton again. We made a card for the headteacher to say thank you for letting us stay and gave it to him.  I think he appreciated it.
What a weird week!
